Keynote Speaking, Lectures, Classes, Workshops
I’ve been lecturing on the subject of art for more than 30 years, both through my former role as Head of faculty of Expressive Arts & Design at Liverpool College and subsequently as a painter. I’ve delivered key note presentations all over Europe and very much enjoy this aspect of my work. You can read my cv here.

In this lecture for A Level and six form students, Brian will unpack the perception of ‘radical’ Art and the claim that it is absurd. This lecture is designed to further cultural understanding and appreciation of Art in all its forms in a contemporary society.
In this lecture Brian will show examples of work from past to current, tracking his path and how it has been built by literary, poetic and philosophical responses, often emerging during a series of drawings and paintings.
The consequences from both are always exciting and vital, often performed and accompanied by music he has also written. Brian’s art resides, under an expanding umbrella, never confined..but none the less belonging to an art world.
The ultimate pleasure for Donnelly is to be wholly creative in his approaches and risk friendly, where the discovery of new things about himself, hither-too unknown, are carried forward.
Brian will examine the extraordinary developments at the turn of the last century where, the new ‘modern thinking’ throughout Europe in industry, science , engineering and intellectual thought.. impacted on artists .. giving rise to the creation of the new and controversial ‘Modern Art Movement’
From surface appearances to inners depths - from Plato to current times.
Brian’s lecture on the Barbarian challenge includes the work of Picasso with special reference to the work of Les Demoiselles d’Avignon, the detonator of modern painting.
