Drawings

Drawing can mean lots of things to artists.. Paul Klee says.. it’s like taking a line for a walk.. until the scribbles begin to find shape and order...sometimes I take mine for a run.. Perhaps what I like most, is the feeling I get of being almost naked.. armed only with pencil and pad.. I use my fingers too.

Most of my drawings are immediate.. and direct.. I enjoy concerts where I capture violinist in seconds.. members of the audience.. the conductor vigorously and expressively driving the performance.. I have little time to think.. responding to the moment inspired by it..enjoying the fluidity of line and tone when the image appears. My aim is always to realise the best of my drawing skills/ approaches in my paintings.. it never stops.. the challenge is to retain the life and moments created.. re: above.. and keep the paint on the canvas.. through drawing.. all is resolved... and my abundant energy resides happily in a space between chaos and rule direction.
